Jacobo Domingo is the new Business Development Manager at SBIC Noordwijk. With a strong entrepreneurial mindset and rich experience in the space tech startup world, Jacobo relocated from Spain to join SBIC in mid-2024 as the primary contact of the ESA Technology Broker for the Netherlands. In his new role, Jacobo is committed to promoting technology transfer and fostering collaboration with non-space industries. Separate to the broker, this new position at SBIC additionally involves scouting talent for the ESA’s Dutch business incubator (ESA BIC Noordwijk) and offering business support to incubated startups. Journey to this new space tech position

Jacobo’s path to this new position is rooted in his diverse background in technology, sustainability and entrepreneurship. His journey includes an engineering education, the experience of founding a startup that is an alumnus of ESA BIC Denmark and involvement in venture-building innovation labs. “I believe it is this unique combination of skills and disciplines that makes me the ideal candidate for this role,” Jacobo explains. His extensive experience in understanding how technology can transfer and bring value to various industries, coupled with his passion for creating a positive environmental impact, sets him apart. “My lifelong interest in space and its intricate mysteries makes me ready to take on the role as the main contact of the ESA Technology Broker for the Netherlands,” he adds.

The ESA Technology Broker Network is a dedicated consortium of specialists uniting space and non-space industries for the purpose of technology transfer. The ESA Technology Broker for the Netherlands is managed by NL Space Campus (Raoul Voeten) and SBIC Noordwijk (Jacobo Domingo), working closely with the ESA Commercialisation Gateway and the Netherlands Space Office. Drawing upon national technological roadmaps, the broker focuses on key sectors such as agri-food, energy, logistics and transportation, and high tech. The aim is to address innovation challenges using existing technology in the Netherlands while also leveraging relations with space technology developers across ESA Member States.
